"For all the poisons that plague this Earth, I am your Anti-Venom"
|The Amazing Spider-man #569|
Anti-Venom is the second alias of Eddie Brock. The Anti-Venom symbiote was created when a cancer infected Eddie was exposed to the healing powers of Mr. Negative. Venom (Mac Gargan) touched Eddie, and his white blood cells repeled Venom and created Anti-Venom. Anti-Venom has the power to heal people of their abnormalities and does not share the weaknessess of regular symbiotes. Since his debut, Anti-Venom has appeared in video-games and has a number of merchandise. Eddie, recently in an attempt to save Manhattan from a spider outbreak sacrificed his Anti-Venom and is now apparently gone forever.
The original idea for Anti-Venom came from Marvel Senior Editor, Stephen Wacker. Stephen was toying with the idea of swapping Venom's colors, naming this idea: "White Venom." Amazing Spider-man writer, Dan Slott then coined the name Anti-Venom. This new, mysterious white symbiote would then be a teaser and later make his first appearance in Slott's then upcoming story: New Ways to Die.
